Happy Hollow's Story

Young Erin and Foal.jpg

Erin Osero has always had a love of animals, and horses in particular.  She got her first horse at 11 years old and hasn't been without one since.

During high school she was a summer time wrangler at Ox Lake Bible Camp, a satellite location for Lake Wapogasset Bible Camp.  She lived on the ranch, took care of all the animals, and led groups of campers on hundreds of trail rides.

After graduating from high school in 1994, she opened Happy Hollow Stables.  She had a desire to create a place where horse owners could gather together and share the joy they have for their animals.

From 1994 to 1998, during the winter, Erin studied animal science with an equestrian emphasis, at UW-River Falls.  She also worked at many stables located around campus.

During the summer, Erin taught riding lessons, broke horses, trained horses, and continued to lead trail rides at various locations.   â€‹

Upon earning her Bachelor's Degree from UWRF, Happy Hollow Stables was open full time, and horse boarding was added to the list of offerings.

The original stables was in an old barn built by Erin's great grandparents, and it served its purpose for many decades.  On July 19, 2019 nature had other plans for the barn.  A tornado touched down on the property and made devastating changes to the landscape, including nocking the top off the old barn.   By the grace of God, all animals survived!

The tornado toppled more than 200 power poles in the area.  Happy Hollow Stables, Erin and her family, went without electricity for more than a week.  Friends brought in generators to power the pumps bringing water to the animals.  It also provided showers for the family!  In the two weeks following the tornado, over 180 friends, family, and many caring strangers, gathered to help clean up trees, brush, and debris.  It was a difficult time following the tornado and the work of cleaning up damaged and downed trees goes on yet today.  Even more devastating was the mental and emotional side of what happens when you lose the landscape you have known since childhood, and a very important piece of your business......the barn itself.

Some good came out of tornado too and the silver lining was found!  After a lot of deep thought, and even deeper prayers, it was decided that Happy Hollow Stables would rebuild.  Construction on a new barn was started at the end of 2019, but the snow and cold came too soon.  The new barn couldn't be finished until spring 2020.

A new barn, a new arena, and a new chapter in the Happy Hollow Stables story!

Today we have a wonderful location filled with fantastic clients and horses.  We have an environment where relationships are made, and a love of animals is shared.  Erin's dream of having a place where people can gather and share the love and joy they have for their animals.......that is now a reality!

Our hope is to provide you and your horses an environment where everyone can grow and flourish.   We are looking forward to having you join the fold.   We invite you to check out Happy Hollow Stables!
